Using Single Sign-On (SSO) with PAETEP

The new version of PAETEP supports Single Sign-On (SSO) with Microsoft and Google.  For those organizations wishing to use SSO, simply ask your users to choose the appropriate SSO option when logging on (i.e., Continue with Microsoft or Continue with Google).

If a user already has an account in PAETEP, these buttons will allow them to log onto the application using their Microsoft/Google credentials.

If they do not yet have an account, our system will prompt the user to complete the user registration process to create an account with their Microsoft/Google credentials.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What set-up or configuration is required from my district to start using Single Sign-On (SSO)?

Your organization does not need to do anything in order to use SSO for PAETEP. Simply ask your users to choose the appropriate SSO option when logging on (i.e., Continue with Microsoft or Continue with Google).

If you have other questions about SSO for PAETEP, please Submit a Support Ticket.

Q: My district uses another SSO provider (i.e. Classlink, etc.). Is PAETEP compatible with SSO providers other than Google or Microsoft?

If your organization uses a different SSO provider than Microsoft or Google, please Submit a Support Ticket and let us know!

Our goal is to add other popular SSO providers in the future, and your feedback will help us know which services should be prioritized.

Q: Can I configure PAETEP to synchronize with my district's user data stored in Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Account GCDS, etc.?

At this moment, PAETEP is not set up to synchronize data with your local user databases. Changes made to your district's Active Directories will not automatically update in PAETEP.

If you have questions or would like to request this feature to be considered for future releases of PAETEP, please Submit a Support Ticket and let us know!

Q: What should I do if I add/update a user's information in my district's Active Directory?

PAETEP is not set up to synchronize data with your local user databases. Changes made to your district's Active Directories will not automatically update in PAETEP.

After a user's data is updated in your local system, you will need to update their PAETEP account manually on the user's profile page. The following support articles will provide instruction on how to update user information in PAETEP:

Name/Username Changes

If a user is added to your district's directory, an account will need to be set up in PAETEP for the user. Simply instruct your user to click on the "Continue with [Microsoft/Google]" button on the login page to complete a self-registration process. For more information on adding new users, see the article below:

Adding New Users

If a user is removed from your district's Active Directory, they should be archived (manually) in PAETEP. For more information on archiving users, see the article below:

Archiving a User

If you still have questions, please Submit a Support Ticket and let us know how we can help!

Q: Can my district require users to sign-in to PAETEP using a particular option on the login page?

If an account is created using Microsoft/Google Credentials to self register, the user will not have the ability to log on using Edulink Credentials. Please know that District Admins will have the option to open up this login option at any time from the user's profile page. For more information on user account creation, see Adding New Users.

We do not currently offer the option to customize the login page for a district to remove buttons/options for their users.

If you have questions or would like to request this feature to be considered for future releases of PAETP, please Submit a Support Ticket and let us know!

Q: Does PAETEP support SAML or OIDC SSO?

PAETEP does not currently support SAML or OIDC SSO. If you have questions or would like to request this feature to be considered for future releases, please Submit a Support Ticket and let us know!
