Assigning Users to Buildings

Building assignments are a crucial component in how users interact with PAETEP. Assignments determine which supervisors have access to which employees. 


Staying on top of Assignments Management will:

  • Keep your LEA's portal organized and up to date for your supervisors with the most current employee list
  • Restrict supervision access to the appropriate employees
  • Ensure PAETEP reports are accurate with items contributing to the proper buildings

Step-by-Step Guide


Note: All supervisors in PAETEP (Principals, NTP Supervisors, and District Admins) have the ability to adjust building assignments. However, only District Admins can adjust the assignments of supervisor level users.


Step 1: Navigate to the Assignment Management page 

Administration > Assignment Management



Step 2: Locate the user(s) you wish to adjust an assignment for using the filters



Step 3: Adjust the user(s) building assignment(s)


Note: Users should NOT be removed from their home building until their 13 rating form has been completed for the school year.  Otherwise, when a supervisor goes to complete the user's 13 rating form in the fall when building scores and teacher specific data are released by PDE, they will not see the user listed on their Supervision Management page, and the user will need to be reassigned.
  1. Select the checkbox to the left of the employee(s) name
  2. In the first drop down, select either "Assign to" or "Remove From", depending on whether you are adding or removing a building from a user(s) assignment
  3. In the second drop down, select the appropriate building you wish to add or remove.
  4. Click "Update Building(s)"





Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)




Q: Why is an employee still appearing in their old assignment after I updated their building?

When an employee moves from one building to another, it is important that their assignment in PAETEP be updated in two ways:


1) Add the new building to their assignment

2) Remove the old building from their assignment


If the user is not removed from their old assignment, they will still appear in the supervision management list for that building.

Q: What do I do if an employee works in multiple buildings?

PAETEP allow users to have multiple buildings assignments when appropriate. To add additional buildings to a user, simply follow the Step-by-Step Guide.

Q: Why is a User not appearing on the Assignments Management Page?


Ensure that the user has been given the correct role configuration. If roles have been assigned incorrectly or are missing, the user will not appear on the assignments management page.
