Utilizing the Building Lead Assignment

For districts who have supervisors that evaluate other supervisors (i.e. principals evaluating their vice principals), PAETEP provides a designation, called a "Building Lead".

The Building Lead assignment can be used in the following scenarios...

  • A Principal can be given the Building Lead designation to allow supervision of vice principals in the same building.
  • A Non-Teaching Supervisor (i.e., Special Education Director) can be given the Building Lead designation to allow supervision of other Non-Teaching Supervisors (i.e., other Special Education supervisors) in the same building.
  • A Support Staff Supervisor (i.e., head of maintenance) can be given the Building Lead designation to allow supervision of other Support Staff Supervisors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Can a Building Lead supervise another Building Lead?

Building lead assignments do NOT allow supervisors to evaluate other building leads.

If you still need support, please Submit a Ticket.

Q: How do I allow a building principal to evaluate their vice principal, but not other supervisors in the same building?

The Building Lead assignment was created with this structure in mind. Therefore, no additional configuration is needed to limit supervision in this way!

When a Principal is provided with the assignment of Building Lead, they will only gain access to principals and support staff supervisors in their building. They will not gain the ability to evaluate other Non-Teaching Supervisors in their building.

The same is true for Non-Teaching Supervisors - a building lead NTP Supervisor will only gain the ability to evaluate other NTP Supervisors and support staff supervisors. They will not be able to evaluate principals in their building.

Q: Can a supervisor be Building Lead in multiple buildings?

Q: Can a building have multiple Building Leads?

Yes, buildings are not limited to a single building lead. To assign multiple supervisors as Building Leads, simply repeat the Step-by-Step Guide above, selecting a new user each time (or select multiple supervisors at once when updating the building assignment).
